Sania Mirza and Parineeta

No no Sania Mirza has nothing to do with Parineeta hee hee :) but they made two of my evenings in the last week memorable.
Firstly Sania played an exciting game against world no. 5 Svetlana Kuznetsowa & matched her stroke for stroke playing some great tennis on Wimbledon center court. Last time an Indian featured on center court in singles event was the great Vijay Amritraj who defeated French star Yanik Noah in the thrilling encounter in 1985. Infact I was privileged to listen the radio commentary of the match on BBC World.
And on Wednesday it was Sania..
Though Sania lost the game 4-6, 7-6, 4-6, she managed to win million of hearts with her gritty ground strokes. She proved beyond doubt that she has that something extra to be counted among the best. All she needs is to improve her service, net play & athleticism to reach the top bracket. Wish u all the best Sania! Hope to see u as a better player next time in Wimbledon.

Coming to Parineeta I was planning to see the movie for past few weeks but somehow things didn’t make out. When I went thru my blog fren Puneet’s review of the film I immediately decided that the coming Saturday will be the day.
The movie which is set on Calcutta of 1962 is really refreshing. Saif is maturing fast as an actor & Vidya Balan who is a rank newcomer has done a wonderful job.
Songs are really sweet specially Dil ki ji batein hain dil mein hi rakhna piya & Raat Humari To on which I have dedicated one complete post on my Hindi blog.
So do see this movie frens u will not be disappointed!

Hmmm..need to see this one then. I think you might know that Parineeta as well as Devdas was written by Saratchandra (perhpas you've read them). But Devdas was nowhere near the orginal novel (oh well! it kept some elements of the novel, but after reading it, you can hardly the watch the modern Devdas, though there are older version of Devdas and you can easily watch them).

I'm keeping on failing to watch Sania Mirza :(:(. Next time, I really need to make a point to watch one of her game.

Hmmmm I can understand your agony regarding Devdas. No one wants any classic to be twisted in the name of cinematic liberty. And I remember the vociforous protests from bengali journalists specially regarding the dancing sequence featuring Ash & Madhuri for the song Dola Re.. which was inserted in the movie to increase it commercial and dramatic appeal.

I haven't read Parineeta. But it seems this time story has been kept more or less same as per one english daily
The Telegraph which is published from Kolkata.

Sania ka match nahin dekha! Hmmmm US mein tumhein pata hi nahin chala hoga due to time diff.!

:):) - you know I've come second time to your page this time just to pull your legs. I remembered why Devdas could be bad - because certain beautiful actress was there. In Parineeta, as far as I know she is not there ;);););)....LOL..LOL....

Parineeta..yes..I have to see it..and I also enjoyed those two numbers which makes me more eager to see it.

Yes she has a way to go and I mentioned her deficiencies too in my post!
Sahi kaha DON media hype yahan jyada hai but agar aapne wo match dekha hota to really uska khel sahi mayne mein enjoyable tha!

Well, atleast I'm glad to see that the media is creating all those hype with tennis. It's usually cricket that's take all the center stage, everything in India. And, these cricketers are so fabulously rich, still they can't pay taxes while bringing those foreign cars to India and request our government to do so!!!!!!

hi... my first visit to your english blog... never knew it existed... gosh... just went thru the titles... i think i've enough to read for this weekend too...

i saw ur comment on my blog for Parineeta post today only...
the wordings "Main hui Parineeta" comes during the only "so called" intimate scene betwn Saif and Vidya... its in background...

Rgdng Sania... she plays good tenis and she is hot too...

WRT Dawn's comment... ya agreed "sar par chadha detey hain"... but kya karen... there is no promotion to ne other sport than cric... so even if some1 reaches internatl arena its considered gr8...
cricketers ko to bhagwan samjh rakha hn...

Would love to see Sania going further up in Wimbeldon... all the best to her...

cheers
